Children from across the county join in Crucial Crew workshops to learn life skills

Crucial Crew is targeted at 11 year old children who are moving from Primary to Secondary School. The two week workshops enable pupils to learn much needed life skills from the Police, Fire and Ambulance Services. They also have sessions on farming, health and safety and the environment. Angela James from Veolia in Shropshire was on hand every day to talk to the children about the importance of recycling and what happens to their household waste.

Angela said “The Crucial Crew workshops that we run are fantastic and fun. We talk about how to recycle at home, and how we can all do our bit for the environment by following the four R’s –Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover. It is wonderful to see the children get excited about how much they can recycle at home. One boy said to me ‘Gosh, I didn’t know recycling was so interesting!’.

2017 marks the 25,000th child to attend Crucial Crew, which began back in 1994. Further information on Crucial Crew is available at shrewsburyoswestrycrucialcrew.wordpress.com.  To book Angela for a recycling talk please contact the Veolia office on 01743 452 150 or email [email protected].
