We are thrilled to announce the completion of our upcycled art project at the entrance to Battlefield Household Recycling Centre. The project has taken many months to complete and has been designed and constructed by local artist, Jessica Jackson and engineer specialist, Simon Meiklejohn.
Simon and Jessica commented on the thoughts behind the sculpture- " Veolia wanted to have a one of a kind sculpture that reflected the ethos of recycling and the history of the site. The Battlefiled site witnessed the 1403 Battle of Shrewsbury where opposing armies first faced each other with long-bows. The upcycled art piece has been predominantly produced from recycled materials, the dished base representing the earth, the ground over which a flight of arrows marks a past battle. The arc of that flight becomes a large arrow and a representation of our recycling symbols. Beneath, through gaps in the base planting grows up through a scorched land as nature reclaims it."
