All bins and bags in Shropshire are collected fortnightly on an alternating two week schedule. Please be aware that garden waste collections are now a paid for subscription service from November 2025. Everything you need to know can be found using the links below.

Black Bin 

  • Disposable nappies and sanitary items
  • Food waste
  • Plastic bags
  • Pet waste, animal bedding
  • Cat litter
  • Fire ash (bagged) 

Green Bin

  • Plants, weeds and cut flowers
  • Small branches and twigs
  • Grass cuttings
  • Hedge trimmings and leaves

Blue Bag

  • Cardboard and packaging
  • Magazines and newspaper
  • Egg boxes
  • Cardboard tubes
  • Small amounts of shredded paper 

Purple Bin

  • Plastic bottles
  • Food and drink cartons
  • Glass bottles and jars
  • Food tins and drink cans

Orange Bag

Flats and Communal Residences

Simply collect Blue Bag items in one side and Purple Bin items in the other. Then take your orange bag down to the communal recycling area empty it out, and take it back to your flat.

Dangerous Waste

  • Batteries (put in a clear bag and leave on top of your purple bin for collection)
  • Vapes (take to your local HRC)
  • Electrical Items (take to your local HRC)
  • Gas Bottles (take to your local HRC)
